IMMERSIVE VIDEO 2020

[Appartenenze]20.20 – Immersive Project

The concept of belonging in [Appartenenze]20.20 develops from the idea that humanity, since its origins, has never been motionless or isolated, but continuously traversed by movements, encounters and contaminations. Genders, peoples, cultures have always intertwined in the common space of our planet, giving life to a shared heritage that renews itself ceaselessly. Belonging, in this sense, is never fixity, but dynamic fusion, the result of infinite combinations.

The work represents this worldwide network of flows as if it sprang from an original point, a primordial place that branches out in all directions, uniting ethnicities and identities that, seen from afar, lose their particular contours to become part of a single visual body. Of each remain fragments — names, cities, gestures, gazes — that are not erased, but recompose themselves into a choral vision, that of [Appartenenze]20.20.

Proper names and those of cities flow across the walls like luminous signs, an evocation of an invisible geography born from real data contained in the UNHCR Global Trends annual report on migratory flows in the world. The room thus becomes a living archive, a container in which the frames of a humanity constantly traveling flow. The spectator finds themselves immersed in a sensory fabric made of eyes, hands, mouths: fragments of lives coming from countries both distant and near, that cross paths, overlap, blend together, until composing a unitary image that reveals itself only in the gaze of the observer.

From this perspective, belonging is neither constraint nor limit, but necessity of evolution, an essential condition for the growth of new generations. It is a horizon that invites us to imagine unprecedented possibilities of coexistence, moving beyond the stereotypes and rigid definitions that imprison identities in static or conservative frames. [Appartenenze]20.20 reminds us that our destiny is common, and that only by embracing movement, change and encounter can we give shape to a more open and shared future.
