From 24 to 27 September, the Light our Vision Festival returns to Chemnitz for its third edition, transforming the city into a theatre of luminous visions. This year, the festival focuses on urban development and social change, interrogating the urban fabric through the language of light and art. The city becomes a living organism, a space of dialogue where historical architectures meet contemporary narratives.
In this dialogue between architecture and metamorphosis, OOOPStudio dresses the Roter Turm in a work that weaves memory and future. The tower, silent witness to the flow of time, suddenly becomes sensitive skin: here gesture becomes wave, and the liquid element dances on its stone surface, redrawing its contours in an endless choreography.
Imagine a dancer whose body does not merely move through space but becomes the driving force of a greater, primordial energy. Every movement generates consequences: their gestures shape a virtual body of water that takes form on the surface of the Roter Turm, following the lines of the architecture, sliding between windows and cornices, transforming solid matter into a fluid mirror. Water – symbol of life, memory, and transformation – becomes the medium where past and future merge, where the sedimented history of the tower meets the ephemeral nature of the present gesture.
The echoes of archaic dances are reflected in contemporary movements, as if the performer’s body contained the memory of forgotten rituals. The tower transforms into a vast liquid mirror, a reactive organism that responds to movement with its own luminous existence. Waves ripple, break against the edges of the architecture, and reform in an eternal, hypnotic cycle. The memory of gestures dissolves in the projected water and is continually reborn, carrying traces of what has been and seeds of what will come.
This is not just a visual experience but an invitation to rediscover our connection with primordial forces and their transformative potential. Because water, like culture, never stops: it changes shape, travels, blends, yet always carries a trace of the past. And we, dancing with it on the skin of the Roter Turm, become part of this fluid story.
